Coffee is ritual. It's connection, culture, energy. But it's also one of the most misunderstood substances in daily health.
If you're struggling with focus, energy crashes, or poor sleep, your coffee habit might be the problem.
Coffee doesn’t give you energy. It delays the signal that tells you you’re tired. First cup? You feel sharp. Third cup?
You feel flat. Your brain builds tolerance quickly. After a while, it’s not even boosting performance.
It's helping you feel normal. Less coffee, more clarity. That’s the truth most people don’t want to test.
Coffee increases cortisol, especially in the morning. That’s your stress hormone. If you’re already under pressure, you're throwing petrol on the fire. You might be feeling edgy, wired, agitated after coffee. Thoughts spinning, body restless.
That’s cortisol at work. Over time, it flattens your energy curve.
You start high, crash early. Fix your relationship with coffee to potentially reduce stress levels.
Even if you drink it at noon, it can still reduce deep sleep. You fall asleep, but don’t reset properly. You wake up groggy. You need coffee again. That’s not real energy. That’s a being dependent on a stimulant.
Deep sleep is where your hormones reset, your memory files, and your body repairs.
Coffee impacts that cycle for hours after intake.
• 1 to 2 small coffees per day is a healthy range
• Best timing: after cortisol naturally drops (about 60–90 minutes after waking)
• Worst timing: within 30 minutes of waking or after 2pm
• Avoid relying on it fasted, with no nutrients consumed prior.
You don’t need to quit coffee. But if you want real energy, try this first:
• 1 glass of mineralised water (add a pinch of salt if needed)
• Morning light exposure for 10–15 mins
• Nasal breathing and movement (even just a short walk or 5 bodyweight exercises)
• Breathwork – 10 nasal breaths, long exhale
• THEN coffee, if you still want it
Coffee is not something to avoid. It is not harmful. It does not to be abused, specially when you are very tired.
On long term it will make you more and more tired. While affecting your mood, making you anxious.
